the best medicine

March 25, 2016

Today’s entry in the Simple Abundance book speaks to us about feeling blue. Occasionally, these feelings get the best of us. Sarah offers to us several ways to cope with these feelings, ranging from brewing a fresh pot of tea to clearing your head with a walk around the block, to preparing a new recipe for dinner. I love all of these suggestions. I especially take to heart her suggestion of cleaning our desks and organizing our papers. This never fails to get me back on the right track.

But, what I find the most helpful at this time of year to really get me out of the winter blues is to get busy in the garden. Sowing seeds seems to transport me into another world…one that is timeless. It just feels right. And there are no words to describe that moment when I see the seedlings sprouting from the soil. It never gets old. This is the very best medicine for me.

Tiny seedlings are the best medicine for the winter blues
