we were busy this weekend!

April 15, 2019

Still going strong with spring cleanup and prep activities. Thought I’d give a little peek into what we’ve been working on over the weekend.

We are expecting a large soil delivery (3 cubic yards!) and have a couple tarps set up so the crew can just dump it right on. It’ll be used to fill up the area inside the retaining wall to the left of the tarps and the new raised veggie garden beds.

I also began transplanting some of the veggie seedlings. They got bumped up into larger containers while they are waiting to go outside. That won’t be til mid May. Here are some of them. The rest of them stayed under the grow lights. There is only so much space there, so these ones below will have to depend on the sun from this southeast facing window.

I picked up a cute outdoor pillow recently and it gave me the idea for a project.

Some patio tables that we’ve had for a while now that are still in great shape, are due for repainting. They started out as a nice, sharp black and they’re fading. They’re looking pretty dull. I don’t think the photo really shows it but the sun has taken its toll. Can’t wait to see them in the new vibrant colors. The colors will go really well with our other chair cushions, too. I’ll share photos once the painting is finished. This will be a very inexpensive update and should extend the life of the tables.

And last but not least, I found some really nice planters for my majesty palms.  They’re just been in the black plastic nursery pots til now. The plants will go outside when the weather is consistently warm enough.

Also, the man cut the grass for the first time this year. All that combined with finishing up our tax return, I’d say we got a lot done this weekend! So that about wraps it up for what we are working on here at the woodland garden.

Hope your week is off to a great start!
