“Obstacles are nothing but in the way.”
A line from one of my new favorite songs, Blind-Sided, by The Sid Hillman Quartet. I’ve enjoyed their music for a while now, and their fourth album (Round About Way) was just released.
The guitar in this song is exquisite, and what speaks to me just as much are the lyrics.
“Roll around the curves, down straightaways.
Obstacles are nothing but in the way.
Both of us standing blind-sided.
Knowing what’s wrong and everything’s so far away.”
Wow! So, so meaningful to me right now. Each of us might interpret this song in our own way. Reading the words of this chorus as is, might not sound so encouraging at first glance. But(!) listen to it in context. To me, the words and the upbeat melody are encouraging, reminding me that even though life will throw its punches, take it all in stride. Or as Dory would say, “Just keep swimming.” I feel good when I listen to this song. Check it out (iTunes, etc).
Obstacles are Nothing. They are just In the Way, that’s all. Go over, go under, go around, go right through.
