My new, go-to recipe for seasoned cabbage. As much as I would like to say I made this dish with my own homegrown cabbage, those brassicas still elude me. Broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage…I just have not been successful at growing. One day! #goals The garlic, however, is homegrown. So, there’s that at least. I’ve always loved the combination of cabbage and potatoes, and usually cook them together. This time, I tried something new and I am hooked. Here it is – Ingredients: olive oil (just enough to sauté an onion) 1 medium onion, chopped 3-4 cloves garlic, minced 1 head cabbage, shredded 1 tsp salt 1/4 tsp black pepper 2 cups water or vegetable broth splash or two of Worcestershire sauce Directions: In a large pot, sauté the onions and garlic in the olive oil over medium heat, until the onions are soft and translucent. Add the cabbage, salt, pepper, water, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Turn the heat down to medium-low, cover the pot, and simmer for 15 minutes.
