meanwhile, winter arrived suddenly

November 13, 2022

As a return from an unplanned hiatus, I’d meant for this post to be all about the things I love most in the fall season. However, winter arrived suddenly yesterday. From all the projections, while the snow is already melting, looks like the cold is here to stay.

So instead of waxing poetic about autumn, I’ll share with you some of the lovely scenes from this weekend.

The only crops remaining in the vegetable garden are some beets and radishes, along with some flowers that are still going.

The zinnias and marigolds have weathered some cold nights and I’d been wondering how cold they can withstand.

This is only my second year growing zinnias and marigolds and I’m not sure how long they’ll be okay in this cold. I’m enjoying their beautiful color right now, though!

Easy to grow from seed and so attractive to the pollinators, they will always be grown in any future garden of mine.

And with the seemingly endless varieties, I’ve got a lot of catching up to do regarding my seed collection. As if I need another reason to buy more seeds…

We had fun taking our new 15 month old puppy, Farley, for his first walk in the snow. He had fun too!

If you had a visit from the arctic over the weekend like we did, hope you are staying warm!

Until next time, this is Angela signing off
