Back to reading Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. Book 5 contains this lovely paragraph: “The things you think about determine the quality of your mind. Your soul takes on the color of your thoughts. Color it with a run of thoughts like these: i. Anywhere you can lead your life, you can lead a good one. ii. The tulips have survived all the temperature dips, frosts and freezes, that we’ve had over the past week. They are one of only a handful of flowers to otherwise survive at our place without human intervention, in the way of fences or deer repellent. I am glad the weather didn’t take them. It is nice to have some color.…
