This week I am digging a gorgeous new canna lily I picked up at Meijer over the weekend. I’ve had cannas in the past, years ago, and then I got over the whole “dig them up and store them inside over the winter for replanting next year” thing. Too much trouble! Am I the only one who thinks this way? Then I met Canna ‘Red Shades’ –
WOW! – this one made me change my mind. This is the actual color of these flowers, the only photo editing done was cropping to the best shape and size. Ain’t she grand? The exquisite color is blowing my mind. I fell in love hard and she came home with me.
Then, alas, as flowers do, she started dropping her petals…
Nooooooooooo………I cried!
But! I think there is hope yet for reblooming this season. There seems to be a new shoot ready to unfurl soon.
My fingers are crossed. And there is always next year, because this baby’s rhizomes are coming inside over the winter.
