thanksgiving plans have changed – what??

November 12, 2018

Greetings! Are you getting excited for the Big Feast that is coming?

We are gearing up for Thanksgiving in our household, although our plans have changed somewhat. Ever since we got married in 2005, we have hosted an “After-Thanksgiving Day Thanksgiving”, more recently known as Friendsgiving. We host our family and friends at our place on the Saturday after the big day. After feasting at one place or another on actual Thanksgiving Day, it’s the whole big dinner all over again, and the only Thanksgiving with the man’s family. We love it! Here is a lookback at preparations from last year’s Friendsgiving.

This year, due to strange things going on with work schedules, we are having to push our Friendsgiving out a little further into December. For the first time in 13 years, we will not be hosting at our place on the Saturday after thanksgiving. We were bummed a bit at first, but no matter. It’s just a small thing. What really matters is the time celebrating with our family and friends. I think it might be a little fun to change it up. Because by the time December is here, there will be Christmas decorations up, and fires in the fireplace, and hot chocolate, and maybe snow, and – you get the picture. The whole mood of the event will be totally different!

Some festive photos of Christmas decor at our place last year:

Originally, this post was going to be a peek at what I was planning for our Friendsgiving menu. Now, I think I am changing it all up. No one is thinking about sweet potatoes and cranberries in December. That is old news by then and our change of date opens up a LOT of new menu possibilities. We never host anything in December – what kinds of dishes do people normally cook during that month?? I am now on the hunt for brand new recipes, and that makes me smile really big.

Although a wee bit early, Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
