plant spotlight: lively italian sweet yellow pepper

October 3, 2021

Greetings! As fall is kicking into gear, we are heavy in the midst of garden cleanup over here at the woodland garden, like every other gardener in the northern hemisphere probably is at this time of year. While many of the veggies have died back or stopped producing, the peppers are still going like gangbusters. This has definitely not always been the case; in fact, I am very happy to say that this year was very different, our best pepper…

bountiful harvest

August 27, 2018

Hi all! A quick post with a garden update on the veggies I’ve been picking from the garden. Not extravagant but considering how late I started and how little effort I’ve put in this year, it’s a bountiful harvest and I’m pretty happy all around. It’s been a few weeks. What I do have, however, are some nice garden photos for you. Enjoy!   Happy Gardening to You!…

up & running

May 2, 2017

The vegetable garden is moving along! Just waiting for the weather to be nice enough to get the seedlings into the ground. It’s still just a bit cool at night for the tomatoes and bell peppers. While we are building another raised bed this year, I’m short on available planting beds, so I am trying something new. I am using food-grade 5-gallon buckets to grow carrots and sweet potatoes in this year. I’ve seen some good YouTube videos on growing…

seasonal changes

October 13, 2016

Fall is progressing nicely here in Loveland, OH. We have had some unusually warm days, well into October. That is likely why there are still some peppers holding on. The average first frost date here is sometime in October, tending towards the latter part of the month. The garlic has been planted and covered with straw. I am hopeful for a good crop come next summer. I do have some lingering concerns about having planted it in containers, which sit…
