the sun is back and the days are shorter

September 16, 2018

The beautiful sun came back to us! If you have been reading along, you may know that gloom was setting in. I am so happy to report that the sun is back, even though the days are shorter now. I’m kinda getting used to that; after all, it has always been that way in the decades that I have been on this earth (and, of course, much much longer than that!). The change of seasons from summer to fall means that I’m getting a bit lazier and hitting the sack earlier. Fall is nice but summer is best, and I’m always a bit sad to see it go.

A walk around the place tonight resulted in some very pretty photos.

This year I am planning hoping to decorate for fall a bit earlier than I usually do. It always seems to come down to: “it’s getting later and later in the season, shouldn’t I put some fall things out already? We are having 30 people over for Thanksgiving for crying out loud!” The pressure!! Some of our fall decorations from last year are here.

I think Mother Nature usually provides the best fall decoration possible. I love the way the decorative grasses get their “tassels” and start to flop over in the fall. We have a bunch of these grasses all around and leave them up over the winter because they provide a resource for critters. I’ve seen many a bunny scamper into and out of them.

That’s about it for this weekend around here. Our hearts are with those, including the animals, impacted by Hurricane Florence. If you are wishing to assist those in need, here is a very helpful article from the NY Times.

With great respect and love, I thank you for stopping in to visit.
