garden update

November 6, 2019

Hey all! With all the talk of frost earlier this week, I’m changing topics and giving you the weekly garden update. We still have a lot of leaves on the ground. The man is planning to do one last mowing to mulch them up. But, before he gets around to that, I am getting as many as I can with my portable shredder.

I’m adding them directly to my raised beds, where they will decompose even further, adding nutrients to the soil and helping to improve its structure over time.

My very small compost bin is full and I need to stop adding to it so that it can break down. Next year, I plan to implement a new composting system. Something like this or this .

This is our little homemade one that we’ve been using for a few years now, looking unkempt and neglected.

I’ve made good use of it over the past few years and I think it’s time for an upgrade.

How’s your garden doing? Are you still puttering around out there or have you tucked it in for winter?
